Hiking tourisme-ouestlimousin - in English Hiking tourisme-outestlimousin - in French with full walk descriptions and maps Spring is definitely here - birds busy nesting, verges bright with wild flowers, fruit trees heavy with blossom, insects busy gathering pollen, and the gorgeous Limousin cows back out in the fields with their calves.
Hay making - a very important day for our horses! We love how the kites follow the tractor - we'll often see 10 or more, they seem to come out of nowhere. The cherries are ready for eating too.
We are seeing a hedgehog out in daylight in one of the Magnieras gardens - she is healthy and acting normally, so she is almost certainly nursing babies. We have seen some tiny hedgehogs out at night too.

After a delicious lunch at the Auberge de la Vallee de la Gorre at St Auvent -
13.50 euros for 4 courses including a glass of wine - we enjoyed butternut squash soup and mushroom & leek vol-au-vent, roasted vegetable and goats cheese tart and salmon served with sauted potatoes and vegetables, a selection of cheeses and key lime pie, chocolate cup and warm red fruit crumble making the trio of desserts - we explored the sanctuary of Notre Dame de la Paix, and had a lovely circular walk along both banks of the river Gorre, following paths golden with fallen beech leaves making a beautiful contrast to the dark rocks and water of the babbling river. A very pleasant way to spend a sunny November afternoon! |
